Boy do I ever need a haircut. I've developed both a ferocious mane and serious case of helmet head. I was doing alright until I lost my cap last weekend. Last week was terrible, I missed it so much, and this has to be the absolute worst time of year to lose a winter hat, because all the stores only have spring stuff -- or at least, I imagine. I ( Read more... )

i bought some records with nick this weekend. i got the db's first album and i realized that i think i only like "black and white" but maybe the other songs will grow on me. ralph macchio was in that movie crossroads that i used to to like and then that britney spears movie crossroads came out and i was filing those movies at my video store job and realized that ralph macchio looks like a boy britney spears. i think maybe he had sex surgery and now is a shitty pop star. sex surgery sounds like something that involves me having sex with a machine.

yeah black and white is amazing, but everything else by the DB's kinda sucks. too much singing like "dyyyyyynaaaaaaa dyyynaaaaa mmyyyyyeeeeeeeaaatt". thats awesome you got that record though. when i was in boston a few months back i went to loony tunes (thats the one in kenmore square right?) they had a fuckload of db's records, but they all looked terrible.

i broke down and bought a copy of the lambrettas beat boys in the jet age off the internet today. its the first record ive ever bought off the internet. it feels like cheating -- and im really scared its gonna turn into a habit.

i'm really addicted to buying stuff on ebay. i bought my copy of that record online for a few bucks. don't get caught up in auctions with british sellers, you'll always get ripped off for shipping. i really like that lambrettas album and i've never seen stuff by them in any stores around here. last week i bid on the left banke record walk away renee and was winning the auction (at 10 bucks) and then i found the record for 6 bucks at a record store in natick that was terrible. i bought the record and just found out i won the record online too. so ebay can suck sometimes.

yeah well, thats how i got roped into that Labrettas record. I saw it on ebay, for around 10 bucks, but the seller was in Norway or something like that, so with shipping it was totally worthless for me to buy. Then I looked on gemm and found it cheaper. I've browsed records on gemm almost every day forever. There are a few things that I really want, like the self-titled plimsouls record, the bangles Faulty EP. It's funny how insanely priced some of the stuff on gemm is though. I saw this revillos record that i got on there for $180, and one guy had that labrettas record priced at $120. I always figure that the internet has ruined record shopping, because the majority of the really rare stuff probably never even finds it's way to the new arrivals bin, just ends up on ebay where it'll make more money and not take up shelf space.

Serge was asking me if that DBs record was any good and I sang "dyyyyyynaaaaaaa dyyynaaaaa mmyyyyyeeeeeeeaaatt" buying shit on the internet DOES feel like cheating, but the penalty is paying waaaaayyy too much, so I think that evens out the score--the thing with records is you either can't find them or can't afford them.

Reading the phrase "helmet head" made me laugh out loud. Every once and a while I forget about a phrase for "hockey hair" and it just kills me to remember it.

I saw that Pearl Harbor solo album in a record store in New York recently. I don't remember how much it was, but I remember being appalled that it was >$5.
