I haven't heard a lot of this stuff--that's smirks song is good right? Better than O.K. UK. (I was bidding on it on ebay the other day and lost by like 10p or whatever fucking limey pennies are called) I wanted to hear the Little Murders because I was looking at their 7" sleeves online and thought they looked good, +they're Aussies, but I guess all sleeves for powerpop bands look the same.
I wanna hear more TV21, I like two of their songs and in powerpop that's something... I heard two Tours songs, Tourist Information and Language School and was pretty into them, but then I heard the b-side to Language School, Foreign Girls--pretty ho-hum (but maybe just compared to their other songs?)
The problem is I don't know where to go to buy this stuff. You can't really find anything in NY, but at the same time you can sort of find everything, if that makes any sense. I guess you have to go somewhere that's kind out of the way, but not totally, like North Hampton/Amherst, or Rochester (however that's spelled) NY. My friend Dave went there and got 100 records for $10(!), lots of powerpop and early punk stuff including a bunch of Girls at Our Best singles. I guess a lot of the stuff had sleeve damage, but still, he was selling some of them at the WFMU record fair and made $300 (actually in think it was $500, but that sounds way too crazy). Got to go to that record store. I wish we could travel back in time and pick through that Rock-it Records backroom 7" stack.
