Rowena awoke with a groan. Her entire body ached, and she knew that it was going to be a long day. She had spent the morning with Miracle, until the Satyr hit the road, heading to her next show. Rowena wanted to grab her and hold on, never letting go. She wanted to leave…get out of town and never return. But her sense of duty forced her to stay her hand as she kissed Miracle deeply, running her hands over the Satyrs face, memorizing her before they were separated. She stood at the window, watching Miracle drive away with a sigh, before turning and moving back into their condo and curling up on their bed of pillows, sinking into her scent.
She sat in the glade, quiet, contemplating the night before. She spoke with Galain, and he offered to take over her tutelage, as Drew had proven to be lacking. Even though she still wanted to impress him…she would never measure up to Eleanor. Galain was a kind man, and she had the feeling that he would go to the ends of the earth to make sure she knew what she needed to know. They would just have to figure out the best way to get together for the teaching.
Rowena grew more and more frustrated as she listened to Theodore. She let him get to her, and her anger grew. She faded from the glade, calmly moving into the bathroom and running a hot bath. She slipped beneath the hot water, holding the razor blade in her hand and examining it. As she slowly ran the blade across her thigh, hot tears sprung to her eyes. The blood seeped slowly into the water as she cut three more times…never deep enough to do permanent damage. She closed her eyes, sighing, resting her head against the edge of the tub, thinking of the past…
She sat in her workshop, hammering at the steel with all the pent up fury she possessed. A hesitant knock upon her door pulled her out of her reverie and she glanced around, scowling at the stubborn steel as she tossed her gloves to her bench, walking over to pull the door open. The beautiful Satyr Kinain stood there, looking distinctly uncomfortable in his well fitting tuxedo. In his arms he carried a massive crate. Rowena blinked, just looking at him, brushing a heavy strand of hair back from her face,
‘Hey, Frankie…whats…whats up?’
‘Hey Ro, baby…umm…Happy Birthday…’
She blinked again, a smile curving her lips. She had nearly forgotten her own birthday…, ‘Thanks, babe…’ He held the crate out for her and she grinned, shaking her head. She gasped, tears springing to her eyes as she gazed inside. Amidst a bed of pink wild roses was a stunning white dress. She ran over to her sink, scrubbing her hands madly for a moment, before running back over to Frankie, grinning from ear to ear as she slowly pulled the stunning gown from the box, gently touching the fabric, breathing, “Oh my god….its amazing….Frankie!” He grinned, leaning over and kissing her forehead. “Go take a shower, kiddo. We’re going out.”
Rowena nodded, still stunned, smiling brightly at the fabric, “Oh…ok…” she moved out of the room, holding the dress, peeking back at him, “Make yourself comfortable…I’ll be RIGHT back.”
She ran the water, stepping in and washing away the traces of her work, smiling and singing to herself in the shower. Miracle…she was amazing. She tossed her hair up into a pretty French braid, pulling the luxurious fabric of the dress against her skin, shivering in delight. She laughed as she swept back out to meet Frankie, running up to hug him tightly.
He kissed the top of her head and they were off. An evening of amazing food at the Brown Palace, dancing, and champagne. After an hour or so, Frankie finally relaxed, and began to enjoy himself...despite the Tux. After dinner, they wandered down towards the 16th street mall, walking arm in arm and laughing, talking, and enjoying the crisp fall air. She laughed as they stopped at the Java Juice, and watched as Frankie hustled a street kid until he had the cash to buy her a smoothie...peach with added wheat bran. He eventually led her back to her studio, directing her to change into something more comfortable as he whipped up hotchocolate.
As she sat in the room sipping her hotchocolate and smiling at Frankie, she felt hands from behind her gently slipping a blindfold over her eyes. Her body tensed for a moment, and Frankie murmured softly in her ear, "Relax, babe...I have one more surprise for you..." He led her to her car, settling her in the passenger seat. They drove for an hour, winding around, and Rowena bounced slightly with the anticipation. They arrived and he stepped to her door, steering her into a dark, crowded, loud room. She jumped, laughing, as someone grabbed her ass and Frankie threatened them.
Frankie led her to a table and sat her down, leaning to pull the blindfold off, whispering, "Happy Birthday, sweetheart." Rowena grinned, watching in awe as she watched her Satyr strip and dance across the stage in front of her.
After hours of dancing and drinking, Miracle and Rowena returned to the condo, making passionate love and falling into an exhausted slumber. She slept peacefully, all of her worries far away for the moment as she slept.
She woke with the dawn and rolled over to reach for Miracle, sighing sadly as she found nothing but a still warm hole in the bed. She opened her eyes slowly, and cocked her head. Where Miracle had been there was a single, long stemmed white rose, a note tied on with a satin ribbon. Rowena smiled, picking up the note and reading the words, tears springing to her eyes,
'Ro-Bella,
Will you Marry me?
Check Yes or No'
She laughed, burying her head in the pillow to take in her scent before flopping back on the pillows, the smile bright on her face.
'Yes' She murmured softly, closing her eyes and slipping back into a soft slumber.
