FREE Passes to Federal Parks for Active Duty Military

May 23, 2012 10:21

I just got an e-mail from the C Company Family Readiness Group.

When C Company returns to Ft Hood, they'll be eligible for free passes to Federal Parks--presumably for R&R purposes.

This is the list of parks that offer free passes for active duty military:

I was told it's subject to change and the number of passes is determined by each park.

My son (E) might like to go somewhere and have some fun when he gets his leave. Carlsbad Caverns is on the list, but we took E there when he was eleven. White Sands would prolly look too much like Iraq to be a vacation for him.

AHA! Petroglyph Natl Monument is on the list and it's only 6 blocks away from home. No pre-planning needed and no 10-hr drives required. A spectacular sunset over the volcanoes could be peaceful and inviting.
