We drove a few thousand miles straight, to Oregon, no sleep, hoping we wouldn't run out of gas money...went across the desert and the plains, up over the Rocky Mountains, through a snowstorm...got out and took a walk, jumped a river and ran up into the snow. I tried sliding down one of the hills on my jacket, but no luck, got a facefull of the snow, got back into the car freezing, going downhill hitting patches of black ice and trying not to fall asleep.
Crossed into the city over one of the bridges, met up with Tis and was introduced to my new home, on Belmont street, in a pretty great area. My new roommates totally rule, having never met Lindsey I was really pleasantly surprised.
Last night I met some kids and we went down towards the river, walked down a dark path with some flashlights, over some train tracks, into a small abandoned old port. There was giant cement tethers to sit around and drink on, and a very large old wooden ship that was half in and half out of the water, rotting its guts out. I climbed a broken old tree branch onto it, but it was too treacherous, and decided to drink instead, tossing bottles into the water and tossing rocks at the bottles.
We drank more and went back to the train tracks, and stacked shopping carts on them, and sat back in the hopes that we would get to see sparks, but it was getting too late, and after an hour wait, we left.
Today I got a job interview at a museum scheduled for tomorrow and tonight went out with Hector, Celina and Mr. Angel, where we went to go dumpster some bread outside of a bakery...it was pretty damn good, and on the way we noticed a lot of chairs tied up on the streets, because there was a parade earlier. As we were walking to go steal some folding chairs, we started to hear sirens, and then all of the sudden this car comes tear assing down the road in front of us, blowing out a tire on one side and running on rims on the other...I caught eye contact with the guy very briefly, and the look on his eyes was enthralling, the guy in the passenger side was pumping his arm out the window...they must have been going at least 80 or 90 on a surface street, and were being followed by about 30 cop cars, in quick succession...we stole the chairs, then got back in our car, and followed the tire shreds down the road to where the car had finally been grounded...there was no tires left, not even rims, he must just blown all that shit out somewhere along the line...we drove home pretty happy.
