Thank you so much for posting a George story!! That was great! I do remember reading about Patty Inder and George slapping her, I've only ever read one account about that, can't quite remember where. It was remarkable for being so out-of-the-blue that he would slap her with no warning like that. Your theory as to why he did so makes perfect sense though ( ... )

GUH GEORGE IS SO EPIC.
George is weepy when he gets drunk, from what I hear.
And George slapping someone is just unfathomable to me.
xDD
Back then and still now, it's girls who do the slapping.
Silly George.

I think in this case George is feeling like a spurned girlfriend to John and attacking his rival.
weepy drunk George...I have to include more of that in my stories.

I'm wondering if that story is in A Twist of Lennon? Cynthia does have a second book out but I haven't read it yet.

That was wonderful! I love "young Georgie" stories and there aren't enough of them. I'd never heard about the slapping incident before and it seems WILDLY out of character for George, even allowing for the fact that he wasn't much more than a kid at the time.

Aw, bless him though - "Didn't you see me wave?" ROTFL...I can actually HEAR George saying that!

I got the "Didn't you see me wave" line from Cynthia Lennon's book A Twist of Lennon where I first heard and fell in love with young puppy George.

I'd never heard this slapping story either. You always write fics based on very rare facts, which I love, because there I am thinking I know everything and then you surprise us with another one!! I'm intruiged to know where you find this stuff out, it's about time I read another Beatle book.

It reminds me of the story where in school, George randomly head-butted Paul's mate for seemingly no reason whatsoever. Paul had just introduced George to his group of mates, and seconds later one of them was on the floor!! And when Paul asked him why, all he said was "he wasn't worthy of your friendship". Oh, he's a dark horse is George!!

Great fic. <3

And who told the story, out of interest?
ie. was it John, or Paul or an author, etc?

Found it! It's in Philip Norman's book John Lennon: the Life, and the author must have interviewed Patricia Inder directly for the book. Here's the paragraph, page 273:

They began regularly spending nights together, Patricia telling her parents she was with her friend Sue, while John told Cynthia he was writing songs at Paul's house. When the evening's gig at the Cavern or elsewhere was over, they would rendevouz at Sue's flat in Princes Road, which fortunately possessed a large spare bedroom. Since Paul was partial to Sue---as well as to several of Patricia's other friends---he, too, would often be having a sleepover there. George Harrison accepted the situation less easily, making Patricia wonder if he might also have designs on her. "When George found out about John and me, he took it really badly. In fact, he slapped my face."

Wow, Patricia goes on to mention that John was the best kisser she'd ever met.

It is from that book. She went into great detail about her relationship with John, but I didn't include it since the story was really about John and George.

If I write about John and George, and I only have written a few with at least one more coming, I always include puppy George following John around. I read that in every book about them and I loved that part of George. Oh, and George now has the armadillo hat I see...

The armadillo looms large in my legend, couldn't switch icons without it. I remember reading about that puppy love bit in several books, I'd have been scared to death to follow someone that cool around. Seemed really either very ambitious or very oblivious of him.

I'd be scared to follow someone that cool around too. it always bit me in the ass.
but George put up with a lot of John's behavovior in their younger days and his crush may have been why. I'll cut a crush some slack.
