Hardly anyone uses Live Journal anymore it seems like. Kinda sad. It's fading slowly and soon no one will bother posting. I barely post too though, but thought I would since it's been so long.
Well, the most exciting news is that I'm pregnant, almost 3 months now. Mark and I decided to start trying while we were in Europe, and then it finally happened a few months ago. So exciting! I can't wait to be a mom. It's going to be amazing.
It's funny how much people say, "Now you can't work anymore, and need to rest" It's been pretty annoying actually, because I'm not going to turn into a soccer mom over night all of a sudden. Mark works from home as a freelance comic book artist and is busy with his career, and I'm busy with mine, that's not going to change just because we're adding to our family. We are going to do things differently. We both work for ourselves, and are lucky because of that. I will continue working after the baby is born and so will Mark, but we will obviously take care of the baby and spend lots of time with it. It just makes it so much easier since we both work from home. But at the same time, because of that, people just think that we both need to stop working and take care of the baby. We both worked hard to build up our careers where we're both making a good living. It's funny because to people that work full time jobs out of the house, no one says that to them. I didn't realize that if you decide to have a baby that means your life ends, your career gets thrown in the garbage, and then you do nothing but take care of the baby until it starts school in a few years. Like come on, haha, that's crazy. We're both extremely excited about the baby, we planned for it, we're ready to have a baby, and we will balance everything and make it work. Both of us working from home will make it so much easier since we set our schedules. We will be great parents and ones with careers we both love and work hard at and set a good example for the little one. It's going to be amazing. Can't wait to find out what we're having in a few weeks!!! I think it's a girl, and so does everyone else that has commented on what they think we're having. Either way, I'll be happy.
We've also been looking at buying a home. I reallllly do not want to move back to Canada, even though the amazing healthcare is definitely tempting and I miss my family and friends, but aside from that, I just don't ever want to live there again. I am so much happier here, and love it here. So we've been trying to find areas where we could move, and a couple weeks ago we came across these hidden cute towns in the mountains so we met with a real estate agent and he showed us some amaaaaazing houses that are totally affordable. It's only 15 minute drive up the mountain, and there are cute towns up there with little downtown areas that have everything you need, stores, restaurants, starbucks, coffee shopes, grocery stores, everything. But then if you want a busier city, it's only like a 15 minute drive down, and then another hour to LA. So since I need to have access to it, and don't really want to change everything around again, I want to stick with being close to here and have access to my suppliers and production companies. So this way it works out. it's beautiful up there, and there's snow in the winter, great schools for kids, and lots of super friendly people. We are now looking into our options on getting a mortgage, which honestly has been a super big pain in the ass since we both are self employed. It's way harder. But we'll figure it out.
Aside from that, things are busy and going well. I now have 3 sales reps that are also road reps and travel the US and Canada and get new stores every week. It's been going really really well. It keeps expanding and there's interest from department stores. it's nice things keep expanding, and growing and moving in the right direction. All the pieces of my life are just fitting and coming together.
I really feel like the luckiest person to be married to someone so amazing, who makes me laugh every day, who I'm extremely attracted to, who's super sweet and nice to me all the time, and who is truly my best friend. Like how lucky am I, and now we're having a baby! Life is great.
Well, here's some photos, and off I go to sleep :)
The positive test!
today's ultrasound. It was the most amazing thing. the baby is almost an inch and a quarter long, and it wiggled around so much. We saw it move its little arms and legs, so cute!! can't wait to feel it moving around.
