Out and about
Hey all! This is just a quick entry to let you know all is well. I guess my brother made it home alright after some adventures and a piece of missing luggage. I'll call home later on when it's daytime in Michigan to find out what happened. Hopefully the luggage will show up soon! I have to go over to see Alex's mom today anyways (she runs the travel agency we used for Habitat), so maybe she can help track down his bag from this end.
I'm currently sitting in the Birthright Armenia office waiting to be taken over to see the office where I'll be interning. I don't know many details yet, but I think there are 2 places where I'll be - Arch Coop and David Hudson (??). More later - sounds cool! Pifer is with 3 different organizations teaching English. Both of us should have some interesting stories to share!
Otherwise life over here is pretty good. Last night the 3 of us finally went over to the market and got supplies and food for the apartment. I had peanut butter and lavash for dinner - I WAS SO HAPPY! We also went to the Aida Sargsyan concert. For those of you who did Encompass back in my day, she sings the "naaaah na na na naah na na na naaah" song that we are all obsessed with. It was second on the song list of the evening and so much fun! The concert experience was kind of weird - they started 30 minutes late and took breaks between songs for apricot juice, chocolates, cognac, etc. with the host of the show who seemed to be the Armenian version of Carson Daly. We left after the first half because we had heard what we wanted to hear and were kind of tired of the concert. It was hysterical, though!!
The apartment is good, too. All the buildings here have very weird common areas like the stairs, elevators, vestibules, etc. mostly because it seems like there isn't any sort of tenants' organization that cleans the place up. The apartment itself is beautiful - we are really lucky to have a great place especially considering the other apartments I've heard about from other people working over here. We have A/C, a washing machine, two bedrooms, two tvs, a new fridge, etc. So we have it pretty good!
