Christmas plants
One thing I like the holidays are the different types of "Christmas Plants" that are availible. In my family we've always bought several pointsettias, a Jerulsalem cherry (which we kept from year to year), and a Christmas cactus for the season.
My grandma had a huge, old christmas cactus which used to re-flower right on cue every December. She would also decorate a tall cactus plant (it was over 5' and more than 20 years old) of the more regular prickly variety with garlands and ornaments. She used to call it "the other christmas cactus."
I'll have to get out soon to buy at least one pointsettia (which i'll take to the family with me on the 23rd).
