Team USA Vancouver 2010 Final Medal Count

Feb 28, 2010 22:16

Final Medal Count: 9 Gold, 15 Silver, 13 Bronze(37 total, 1st place; 9 Gold tied for 3rd with Norway)

Silver: Men's hockey team

Team USA tied the game at 2 apiece with 24.4 seconds left, but Sidney Crosby scored the game-winner 7:40 into overtime to give Canada the gold medal 3-2, its record-breaking 14th gold in Vancouver, and turning downtown Vancouver(and maybe the rest of Canada from Calgary, (dramatic pause), Alberta to Edmonton to Regina to Winnipeg to Toronto to Montreal to Halifax) into the French Quarter after the Saints made it to, then won the Super Bowl a few weeks ago.

The 37 medals broke Germany's record for the most medals at a single Olympics.

------------
My top 5 moments of the 2010 Winter Olympics in no particular order:

-Joannie Rochette's performance after the heartbreaking news of her mother's death(In a way, it was like Brett Favre in that Monday night game after his father died the day before). It was cool that Team Canada named her flagbearer for the closing ceremony.

-Apolo Anton Ohno becoming the most decorated U.S. Winter Olympian ever

-Shaun White's repeat gold

-Team USA's overall performance

-Lindsey Vonn coming off a leg injury to win a gold and a bronze.

On to Sochi 2014.
