Rundown: Danica leads laps at Iowa but finishes 9th; LSU's final opponent set: Team USA advances

-Danica Patrick finished 9th, 1 lap down, today at the Iowa Corn Indy 250 at Iowa Speedway, won by Dario Franchitti. Danica led the race twice for a total of 24 laps, the first time she's led a race since her win in Motegi, Japan(Edit: Actually, according to indycar.com, it was at Kentucky Speedway) last year. Danica remains 5th in the points standings, now 52 points behind points leader Ryan Briscoe(finished 2nd).

Next race is Saturday night at Richmond, Virginia.

-LSU will play Texas in a best of three series for the national title in baseball at the College World Series in Omaha beginning Monday night. Game 2 is Tuesday night and Game 3 will be Wednesday night if it's necessary.

-Team USA managed to advance into the semifinals of the FIFA Confederations Cup just now in South Africa. Team USA beat Egypt 3-0 and because Brazil beat Italy 3-0 as well, Team USA finished 2nd in the group on the 2nd tiebreaker, number of goals scored(USA 4, Italy 3), despite losing to Italy 3-1 and Brazil 3-0 earlier this week. Team USA will play Spain in one semifinal while Brazil will play South Africa in the other.
