So, the last car that the DTW Enterprise franchise had on the lot was a Prius, so that's what I've got for a rental right now. I have to say that it's not a very good car. It's not a particularly good transportation appliance, either. My complaints:
- The steering is very, very numb and gives almost no feedback.
- The seating position isn't any good if you have long legs.
- The touchscreen controls for the radio suck.
- It doesn't have enough power to get out of its own way.
- BIG blind spots, and lots of 'em.
- Brakes have no feedback and the transition from regenerative to traditional braking is abrupt.
- The throttle pedal response is very non-linear.
- Craptastic acceleration.
- Doesn't like to coast, probably because of the regeneration.
- U-G-L-Y.
- Poor control placement means a lot of heads-down looking for the right damn button.
- Did I mention the blind spots?
Seriously, people, buy a Jetta TDI or a Rabbit TDI. Much better car for the money.
Ugh.
