That scene was a fantastic choice to adapt to Sherlock and Sally - great job!

Now I'm reminded of Spock in Star Trek VI The Undiscovered Country: "An ancestor of mine maintained that if you eliminate the impossible, whatever remains - however improbable - must be the truth." :)

Thank you :D I felt like both sets of characters had the same kind of snarky vibe to them, and any scene with a cell would slot handily enough into a Sherlock fic.

I remember that line! So much geeky love <3

Blonde womanizer that doesn't actually get with that many women and makes eyes at his bezzie? Yeah, I can get onboard with that! I'm also quite fond of the idea of Scotty!Lestrade, givin' it all she's got. Thanks!

I've only seen a teeny little bit of the old Star Trek, but I could so see this scene happening between Sherlock and Sally.

Thank you! It sort of sprung fully formed into my head while I was watching the original scene, I'm glad it worked for other people.

Genius.

I especially love her no-nonsense tone at the end when she figures out what he needs to deal with the situation.

'No, honestly Lestrade, he NEEDS me to be a blunt, stern figure. If I try nice he just folds up and sobs!'

Sally's such an interesting character, I always like her to get some page-time.

I love Sally, I really do, and I love the dynamic she and Sherlock have. I think that they could be epic frenemies.

Sherlock is a strange creature when it come to emotions. He doesn't like being vulnerable, not with John, not with Mycroft, not at all. Sincerity is not something he copes with well. That said, I didn't want to let him off the hook for being a deliberate arsehole, hence the "stop being a prick" bit. XD

And that's why I like her. Everyone else sort of expects him to be a callous, princessy nightmare and ignores him. She calls him on it. She expects him to do better. :)

He gets away with a hell of a lot, especially in fandom where we think Sherlock being horrible to someone is fine, but them reacting negatively in any way is unfair on poor baba Sherlock. In the show as well, people tend to let a lot slide. That's probably why he doesn't get with Sally, because, as you say, she doesn't put up with his shit. I think a few years of living with John and he'll be self aware enough to cringe about his behaviour in retrospect.

Great idea and it works so very well with Sally and Sherlock.
