I don't know about you people, but I know what I'm thankful for this year (aside, of course, from the usual "friends, family, health" blahzeeblah). I'm thankful for the relatively new MSNBC news anchor Rachel Maddow.
Indeed, "love" is not strong enough a word for how I feel. And I'm not the only one, either. The Times wrote a piece about being "gay for Rachel." Straight ladies at jezebel.com and momocrats.typepad.com have been gushing over her too.
There are many oft-cited reasons for the amount of attention she's getting, such as her intelligence (Rhodes Scholar PhD, anyone?), ability to handle even the wingiest of the right-wingers with aplomb, and of course the fact that she's a very openly gay lady with her own prime time show. I have a few more points to add to the list, myself, which I will do in the "comments" section of this post, so as not to nauseate everyone who is not interested with a super-long breathless gush of sappiness. However, if you are interested, please do click. I promise to try to be at least a little bit insightful.
