Oye como va...

Who wouldn't want to spend thier Friday morning parusing through a hot, old, dusty museum full of ancient bones and pottery? At least 1/2 of the program showed up for it anyways. You can't beat free, and the museum trips are included in my tuition. I hope I get extra credit. Doubt it.

But the weekend before that was horseback riding in...I have no idea. It's the closest costal town to Sevilla. I can't pronouce most of these place we go. For instance, the river that runs through Sevilla is the "Guadalquivir". Go ahead and try that one. Anyways, it was great, the weather couldn't have been more lovely. I missed riding so much and it all came back to me quickly. My horse was a bit of a poke though; I couldn't get him to frolick too much in the ocean like I dreamed of. Anyways, it still was a close to perfect day with a few friends and a nice lazy afternoon on the beach afterwards.

Steve thrilled to pieces.

Aaaand the couple. I wish I could have seen them really ride, staying in a straight line didn't do much justice to thier skill, I reckon. Ha.

The real wranglers and me. Well Will at least, on the right, is a cowboy up at his ranch. Steve just kept saying yeehaw to the point where I wanted to throw my stirrups at his head.

Gelato on the boardwalk after riding.

This weekend and the last has consisted of many excursions out. Going out and about at night is when one really sees what Sevilla is made of. They have an interesting routine here: Most don't start work until 10am-ish, then the city shuts down, literally, around 2pm. All the stores and businesses are closed and people sleep. Then, there's dinner around 10 at night. If it's a weekend, staying up after dinner could be endless. For instance, when I got up at 8am to catch the bus for horsebackriding, the club was still pumping out music and people still stood around outside smoking. Nuts. I don't know how I'm going to go back to the American lifestyle after all this partying. Ahem, partying responsibly of course. And stuff. Yeah. I think my parents and realitives need a separate journal sometimes to read.

One night we went to an american-ish bar to see our librarian play bass in his band. They covered everything from Stevie Wonder to Aretha Franklin. The spanish woman who sang was incredible. Although we were some of the few americans in there, I still felt a little less homesick. It had a fun bohemian vibe to it unlike most of the dance clubs, reminded me a lot of Boston. It was nice to dress down for a night too.

I guess the rock symbol is universal.

Me and Katie, who reminds me so much of Biz from home it's scary.

The resident regulars/crazies. I love these kids.

On the way back we saw this beautiful shrine, gated in just randomly on a side street. It was gorgeous, like a mecca. The light crept up on us at two in the morning. It just glowed and lit up our faces.

I hope I can find out more about it, the others were hurrying me along and I didn't get to read the signs long enough to translate.

This week I'm going to lay low I think. There might be a trip this weekend with the school...or there might not be. I have to watch my budget, the exchange rate here isn't too good. I'm still working on getting my passport back as well, I hope to do that soon.

I miss you all a lot. Having computer access all the time isn't helping. The time change is horrible, I'm online when everyone else is sleeping. The glamour of being here is wearing off a little, and i'm realizing how much longer I've got here. How much work i'm going to have to do. Of course I love it and of course everything's going better than I expected, but I'm afriad things will be different when I get back. Like, very different. I think I need to relax.

Ciao bonitos, mis amores guapos!
