Blackouts are... good?

Apparently I'm more productive when there's a blackout. Not really a surprise when I think about it -- three days without power means that I can get some much needed sorting and cleaning done since I don't have the internet and tv shows to distract me.

Since my MP3 player was charged before the power went out, I finally got around to listening to Bernard Cribbins read Beautiful Chaos to me. Maybe I've been spoiled by Catherine Tate, but I didn't quite like his Doctor or Donna voices and I kept on mentally filling in all the cuts and edits they made to the audio. It was rather distracting.

Of course when power was restored, I went back to wasting time and I chose to waste it by finishing Smith. I understand why it was canceled after three episodes. They were so boring. This was suppose to provide me my Simon Baker fix, but I spent most of the time:

a) Trying to remember if Jonny Lee Miller was Eli Stone (he was). Then my mind wandered over to his movie Hackers and how the only thing I remember about that movie is me mentally yelling, "Dude, of course there's no pool on the roof! It's on the first floor!" while watching it.

b) Mixing up Amy Smart with Tara Reid.

c) Trying to remember who Virginia Madsen played on Earth 2. For some reason I've associated her with the show for years, but I finally checked IMDb and it tells me she was in one episode and it was an uncredited appearance to boot!

d) Wondering if Michelle Hurd and Lisa Vidal were playing the same character and if the viewers weren't suppose to notice the switch in actors. (According to IMDb, no.)

e) Remembering how awesome Shohreh Aghdashloo was in 24 and thinking they should have used her more.

The unaired four episodes were much more interesting but after reading the summaries for the unfilmed final five, I'm rather glad the show was canned when it was. Sorry for celebrating your unemployment Smith cast!
