Well, that didn't go quite as planned...

So I had the brilliant idea of saving The Nemonite Invasion for after The End of Time so I'd have one last Ten and Donna adventure to look forward to that wasn't going to end with the two being forever separated by regeneration and whatever fate befell Donna ( Read more... )

I, er, don't have the CDs, no.

I don't know if my version is missing anything, but I think they usually do cut the books down before they do an audio - the audio for Beautiful Chaos cut out the entire post-JE prologue and epilogue! And Wikipedia says the audio for The Doctor Trap is an "abridged version". What happens in the prologue and first chapter of the book?

I listened to it today, on the train back home, and I quite liked it. It kept me interested enough to listen to all of it in one go, so that's good (not that I had a lot of other things to do). I was really confused about some things, though. Part of it might be that I'm not that used to listening to audios, but good God, the Baris/Doctor thing was really hard to keep straight. I'm still not sure I got it right. I so don't blame Donna for picking the wrong Doctor, because I had no idea for most of it!

Now I get what you mean by "second most handsome man in the universe", that bit had me laughing out loud! Oh, Donna, your mouth may say "skinny streak of alien nothing" but your brain is saying something else. :D

While I loved the prologue/epilogue from Beautiful Chaos, I don't think it's that essential to the story itself. The missing bits from The Doctor Trap I think do hurt it a bit. The prologue describes the history and myth surrounding Planet 1 and Sebastiene. Chapter one establishes why the Doctor and Donna are in Antarctica and tells us there's a Doctor impostor afoot who is breaking into the TARDIS.

I only got a few chapters into the audio, but I think it's easier to keep track of the Doctor and Baris in the books, especially once it's revealed that the switch has taken place.

Hee! I'm glad they didn't cut that bit! I remember the first time I read it, I was all, "Whoa, back up a bit. Is that implying what I think it's implying?"
