Today's authors need to be more original with what they call their books. So far, I've only notice trends in older books like naming it after the name character like Jane Eyre, Emma, Shirley and Orlando to give a few examples.
But there's nothing wrong with calling your book the same name as your main character. Today's trend is to have the book title be something like [insert name/trade/profession here]'s [insert family's member]. Here are some examples:
The Memory Keeper's Daughter
The Bonesetter's Daughter
The Concubine's Children
The Emperor's Children
The Time Traveler's Wife
Wizard's Daughter
and then there are these titles which begins with Confession of a....
I know that there are a million books out there and what I'm noticing is just a small portion but come on, it gets old.
