see see see! that's kind of the completely awesome thing about this show. I can't give away how, but fandom is reacting to recent events in the show. it does start out like that in Season 1 - but by Season 5, the roles are pretty much reversed. it's really, really interesting to watch them all at once and see the roles change and how they take on a lot of the other's characteristics over time. and yes! a producer has been quoted as saying the entire show is about 'the epic love story of Sam and Dean.' the whole thing is about family, and the ties of family, and all that. it runs through the entire show, the fifth season is still exploring it. which I think is kind of awesome. lD

Re. the fandom’s treatment of women on Supernatural--it’s one of the things that make me so uncomfortable. I love the brother dynamics and the themes of family on this show, but sometimes the fandom can be so antagonistic towards woman characters, it’s scary. Like, I wasn’t so thrilled about Jo’s character in S2 but all the ZOMGhaaaaaaateDIEDIEDIE towards her? Not cool! And don’t even get me started on the bashing of Jared and Jensen’s girlfriends in real life.
I loved Katie Cassidy’s calculating Ruby and even though I thought Genevieve Cortese never lived up to her, season four would not be what it was without her.
(Also, one of my ROFLMAO moments in season 4 was when she possessed that sassy-looking black maid. Dean’s FACE, man!)
Heh, I’d put Wishful Thinking on the list just for how they got away with that ( ... )
