you should all talk to me

So I'm planning on getting paid time on both DW and LJ before I leave, using the money I'm making tutoring. (Today and tomorrow alone should more than cover it, so I feel justified.) I went ahead and got the two-week free trial on LJ and therefore have 15 new icons (predictably, all ladies except for one of part of the Criminal Minds team) and ( Read more... )

BETSY I HAVE NOT BEEN ACCOMPLISHING ENOUGH AND I AM ALL SUNBURNED.

Also I am still very much enjoying DW! And I am enjoying Torchwood as well, though not as much; and the Sarah Jane Adventures are BRILLIANT.

Otherwise I am reading a book by Allison Weir about Katharine Swynford and it is MOST EXCELLENT.

LOL THAT WAS ME LAST WEEK. I'd gotten horribly, massively burned going out on the boat for five hours when we went to visit my brother and was just like "DON'T MAKE ME MOVE I CAN'T DO IT" all week. even when I got over the sunburn. uh. <33333 I am sorry you are sunburnt, though! That really hurts. D:

I adore the Sarah Jane Adventures, they're magnificent. Sarah Jane is just perfect, always, totally flawless, and I love Maria and Clyde and Luke is adorable! where are you? I don't want to risk spoiling you for it. and where are you in Torchwood? Yeah, Torchwood's really not as good as the other two. A lot of people feel like the third season redeemed it, but I feel like parts of it were really good and the rest of it was bogged down by RTD-itis, in which he tries to make everything big and kills off people for no actual reason and the death scenes don't even make sense. which is irritating. But Toshiko is utterly brilliant, isn't she? and I'm a big fan of Ianto's as well. Gwen I like sometimes, and other times I'm just sort of eh on ( ... )

Uuuuugh, that sucks! D: There's not much you can do for them either.

I finished SJA season 1! And I loved it and I looooove her, and I love the kids. SJA is DW reboot, with Sarah Jane as the Doctor and Maria as her companion. I think Luke is the TARDIS and Clyde is Jack and Mickey rolled into one.

I saw Torchwood S1 and S2. I enjoyed them? The least of the three shows though. Everyone in it is so awful most of the time (and like I get why--Torchwood is SUCH AN AWFUL PLACE and there is ONLY TRAUMA--but still), and THEN THEY KILLED TOSH WTF. Also YES YES YES GREEKS BEARING GIFTS OMFG PHILOCTETES. I do love that like everyone is queer and that is not even a thing.

I love Gwen and Ianto! I prefer DW Jack. Owen is such a jerk though.

ALL THE ALOE VERA IN THE WORLD. I've been told hot showers, weirdly enough, are actually really useful. *shrugs ( ... )

I think you make good points!

Yeah, it got a lot of bonus points for casual queer, but I'm not sure that it can overcome its own kind of...premise issues? Not premise issues. It just doesn't all hang together.

Lololol I was like OWEN YOU DESERVE TO DIE, YOU WERE MEAN TO TOSH. Um. Owen entertained me? And I understood him? I was just never invested.

Aw, Gwen! Yeah, I actually didn't mind the cheating as much? WHAT IS WRONG WITH ME. But maybe especially because WHO WOULD EVEN DATE OWEN FOR REAL, so it was obviously like--not about the affair? It was the continuation of the "fuck, we're torchwood and we hate the world but we have to stick together, bound in our secret" thing Torchwood (and DW and SJA) does. It was a shitty thing to do, but I never felt like...like it was cheating? EVEN THOUGH IT WAS.

Wait, what is the speculation on TW 4 then?

Hilariously, Owen's fighter pilot girlfriend? LOOKS A LOT LIKE EARLY EMILY PRENTISS. Apparently I have a type and THEY ARE IT.

It is a messy show, I guess is what I am trying to say. Not very cohesive at all ( ... )

I think messy is a good way to put it. I mean, even the premise is kind of messy? Like, who are they reporting to, what is the *point* of Torchwood exactly, why are there only five of them, how do they prioritize? It made some sense to me when I assumed the rest of the team had been Cybermanned and Jack had wormed his way in, but apparently that wasn't how it went ( ... )

Yeah, it ... doesn't have a very good premise either, really. I think it's really a shame, because I feel like I could have loved ALL the characters and genuinely enjoyed watching it had everything been handled better. *shakes fist at RTD*

I do like the whole relationships being not "traditional" thing. :D It is kind of cool and refreshing.

I... don't really know. He's definitely a main character, he has his own "introduction" vid along with all the other main characters, and the idea of that makes me want to punch RTD in the face. FUCK HIM.

So far, creepy evil guy seems creepy and evil, not like he's joining them? I don't think he's going to be a team member, it seems like they're using him to explore the ~dark side~ of the miracle, or something.

(I am kind of enjoying the new season? LOOK I JUST REALLY ENJOYED SEEING GWEN SHOOT THINGS AND HOLD HER BABY.)
