This is my Monterey/Carmel mug. It's not a real mug, but a big white cup with little drawings which remind me these places: sea-otters, whales, Fisherman's Wharf, etc.
I had bought a similar one in San Francisco, but someone dropped it and it broke.
Now, I occasionally drink from this one, but find that the rim is a bit too thick...so do not appreciate it that much. I bought it a few years ago, while I in the USA with my Mum, visiting the West Coast. We drove from Walnut Creek (where my cousin lives) to San Francisco and then along Highway 1. We stopped in Monterey to enjoy an excellent seafood lunch and white California wine somewhere on
Steinbeck's Cannery Row and visited the fabulous
Monterey Bay Aquarium.
In the afternoon, we drove the 17-Mile Drive along California’s spectacular coastline to charming Carmel-by-the-Sea, where we went for a walk on
Pebble beach as far as the golf course, dipped our feet in the cold water of the Pacific Ocean and discovered the hidden courtyards and enchanting cottages of the local inhabitants.
