I'm getting increasingly concerned over the large fraction of the Bones fandom that continuously labels honest critical analysis as negative and nitpicky. It's not. It's simply a different reading. There is no reason I should have to shut off my brain because I like to watch a television show. If that's how you like to watch, fine, but don't call me or anyone else, negative because they have the skills to critically analyze what they're seeing. The fact that much of it may be less than complimentary at the moment is the result of poor writing and plotholes within the series. If it were up to par, I could just as well analyze in a more "positive" manner (and I have... In the past). I understand that a number of people may disagree, and that our comments may not be particularly "positive" but that does not always mean there is negative energy attached to our analyses. Lately, yes. I'm not going to pretend the show isn't pissing me off, but that's not always what's going on. Typically, when I analyze something, even if what I'm saying isn't the most positive, I'm not coming at it with negative energy. I'm looking at the evidence presented and the facts I have and comparing them to other factors in order to produce an analytical reading. It's not about being negative. It's about putting together an honest critique with the evidence to back it up.
And I keep seeing people claiming that the "negative" fans are the most vocal? When exactly did that happen? Because I'm pretty sure the last time I voiced any kind of opposing opinion in a place that wasn't
daysofourbones, I was told to go jump off a cliff...along with the rest of the "negative" fans. Now, I'm just saying, either we are becoming the majority, which ought to be a hint that things are not all well with this show, or people believe that the more analytical readings we're doing make us "more vocal." It's true that I rarely see the more "positive" fans giving detailed reviews of each episode, but that's probably just because those of us who are actually doing the closer readings of the series tend to be in the minority either way, and with the way this one's been going? Well, it's no surprise to me that most of the close readers are on the "negative" side of the fence. I promise you, though, it's just as easy to do a close reading of a series you think very highly of. Has anyone ever seen some of my reviews for Supernatural? It's not about being "positive" or "negative." It's about taking what you're presented with and looking at it with a critical eye.
And now that I've got that out, let's move on to something more fun...
I finally finished a video. This thing has been sitting around on my computer for forever (since before I got Vegas, obviously), and I finally managed to get it finished. It's a bit sloppy, I won't lie -- and I should warn you that the whole thing with the scene from 1x02 probably won't work as well for anyone else as it does in my head, but otherwise I kind of like it. Looks a little wincest-y, probably, because of the song. Read it however you like. The wincest thing wasn't my initial intention, but I'll admit, it's still kind of there...

YouTube On a real life note, I may have found an apartment for next year!!! A little bit expensive, but I was seriously getting worried that nothing would be available, so I really don't care about price right now... Probably will next semester, but right now it's all good... :D
