Diabetes Management

Sep 09, 2007 23:08

It's been a while since I have posted anything..   I am going to start journalling my experience as a diabetic.  I hope this will help me vent my frustrations and be informative to the non diabetic community.

I went to work the other day feeling like crap... like most diabetics we tend to say we can "feel" when our sugars are out of control.   Well I checked my monitor and sure enough my sugars were at critical high  25 CDN or 450 AM.  Starting time was about 45minutes away so I went to the walk in clinic.    I told the Dr. on duty that I needed short acting insulin to cover my meals as the long acting wasn't working correctly.

Currently, I am doing 5 shots a day, while taking 3 pills of glumetza in the evening to lower my insulin resistance. I am completely frustrated and feel like a failure.    For example  for a snack today i had a pear.  my sugars before the pear were at  approx 7CDN 126 AM  post pear   15 minutes  my sugars reached 18 CDN .

I need to get another insulin pen, its a pain in the ass having to switch insulin cartriges twice a day.  One for the long acting and one for the short acting.

NOTE:   To get the American standard for sugar readings  multiply the Canadian reading by 18.
