So we got home yesterday from our trip. It was a LOT of fun- we visited five colleges: Hofstra, Northeastern U, Boston U, Cornell, and Bucknell. Out of those, Hofstra was AWFUL (ugly campus, bad information session.. generally unimpressive), Bucknell bored me, and Cornell was all right. But NE and Boston were AMAZING.
I want to go to school in Boston. The campuses were so different, and yet really beautiful- NE had lots of green areas and plants and trees and interesting, modern looking buildings. BU was more city-ish, but had lots of flowering trees and a nice stretch next to the river where you can sit and listen to the water. I got to sit in on a Japanese class at BU, which was a lot of fun (I even understood a couple words there). I think I'd be happy at either one of these schools.
We drove a lot- 1,000 miles. Took lots of pictures with new camera, sang, had points where we couldn't find a radio station and the dial went spinning around for ages before it finally found something.. went through a tunnel in the mountains where it had fans going to keep air in the place...
Four different hotels. Two were average, one was awful- it was pretty, but you had to pay for EVERYTHING- internet was $10 per computer per night. Ouch. (Needless to say, we didn't use the internet.) The last one was great- everything was free- even breakfast, which was cool.
We explored a lot of places. First night in Long Island we got there late, so not really (though we drove through NY, which was pretty amazing). Watched Source Code and had dinner one night in Boston, and then the next night went on a trolley tour of the city after an aquarium trip didn't work out (really long line). Got called a guy several times, which was very nice. Dad called me his son a couple of times, and even asked about LGBT policies at NEU for me. That was nice.
Bought some books on Arabic when we were back in PA for Bucknell. Have half the alphabet learned now- it's actually a pretty looking language, if really hard to pronounce.
Hailed/snowed at Cornell. Otherwise it was nice. Stone on the buildings made me think of Hogwarts.. Which reminds me- every school had a Quidditch club or team. I think that I might actually try a sport if I could play Quidditch. XD
Back home now. Went to MYA last night with Kelly. Fun, if a little depressing. There was some (minor) drama, didn't really have a place for the group to visit- though I think the kid who made trouble last week apologized to the Starbucks staff- so we roamed all over the town.. at one point near the end was talking Joe, who always is saying that he wishes he were gay, and I ask him, "do you really?" and then he says, "yeah. if I were gay I'd totally go for you" or something close to that. I like him, as I said before I think, so that was a little bittersweet, but... *shrug* I had another girl that I was talking to for most of the night and she likes The Academy Is too, which was nice. :)
Had lunch today for a belated birthday party at the Mexican restaurant.. I love my old Spanish teacher for recommending it. Three years of birthdays there. :) I looooove flan.
Aaaaand now I think that's it from this week. Love you guys, and I'll see you later!
