Politics is a scary subject if you think about it. Here in the UK we live in a country which most people would agree has a generally alright political system. That's not to say we necessarily have the best people maintaining that system, but as systems go it's generally deemed preferable to those in certain other countries.
But how do we really know that our system's so much better than the others? And just because it's 'better' doesn't mean it's necessarily anywhere near the best. We look back through the ages of history and slate previous systems of governance as being inhumane or unfair or barbaric, but did the people of the time actually have any major complaints about how they were living? If not, we could well be living the barbaric life of the future...
