Made it home from DC - pictures forthcomming.
It was an interesting conference. The best speaker, bar none, was Bill Moyer. He gave a great speech about how media coverage has changed over the past 25 years. CSPAN covered it, and you can watch it on the web
here I didn't see Donna Brazile speak, but people said good things about her. John Edwards received an award and spoke. The beginning of his speech was soft, and a little corny. But after that he was quite good. (you can watch it online
here. I got up early so that I could see Howard Dean speak - it was the first opportunity for me to see him. He was okay. I listened to Arianna Huffington. I don't really like her, and thought she was the weakest of the speakers I saw.
Outside of the conference, my flights were terrible, I went on a date, and inspite of bad weather got down to the monuments. Delta, with my connecting flight in Atlanta was, as par, delayed. And it was only the technicality that we hit the wheels that kept the landing from being considered a crash. The flight back was a doozy too. US Air - how they are still in business is amazing ot me. There was no one at the gate to open to door so we could deplane, and several people missed their connecting flights. And its almost unimaginable to me that a woman would get on a cross country flight with a three year old little girl, and not pack a single toy for her.
Last year I had a crush on one of my co-workers in our DC office. This trip we went out on a date. Not that, being long distance, anything will come of it. It was fun though, and I love spending time with her. Everytime I'm in DC, I remember how much I loved living there. But then I've never taken any opportunity to move back there, I think because I'm afriad that it won't live up to my memories of the place.
The weather while I was there was crap, but I went down to the mall. The photos of the WWII memorial I had from the last time I was there was aweful, so I went down to get some new ones. I'm working on posting a couple of the good ones, but overall, these too are crummy.
