May 29th, 2005 - almost the worst birthday ever. The worst would be hard to beat - in a timeless classic I was dumped the day after my birthday. The Avalanche lost in Game7 the next day. And the following day a good friend moved a couple cities away. Yeah, some things are hard to beat.
This year was could have been close. I spent the weekend in the hospital with my grandmother, who had a double bypass proceedure and going through some of my dads stuff. Not a fun way to spend a weekend, much less my birthday. If my grandmother wasn't doing so well in the hospital I might have put this one above the aforementioned. Greatfully, she is recovering well, and should be home by Wednesday.
But there was good too, that offsets the bad points. A friend from Florida who is was in LA drove up to hang out one night. And YC's mother came to visit him, and I got to see her. When I was in high school YC's mother would have me over to eat dinner a couple times a month. I didn't always know what I was eating, but I cannot recall ever not liking something she made. And as picky as I am about food - you know it had to be good. It'd been about 12 years since I had seen her, and it wonderful and nostalgic to see her.
Now its off to DC...
