Day 7: In your own space, create a fanwork. A drabble, a ficlet, a podfic, or an icon, art or meta or a rec list. A picspam. Something.
So I decided to write a quick Sleepy Hollow fic for this challenge. There are probably some awkward phrasing here and there so I don't mind if any of you guys point those out.
Title: Faster Than Letters
Fandom: Sleepy Hollow
Rating: G
Characters: Ichabod Crane, Abbie Mills
Warning: None
Summary: Abbie teaches Ichabod texting and email, and surprisingly he catches on fast.
Notes: For Snowflake Challenge Day 7 and inspired by
this prompt.
Today Abbie visited Ichabod’s apartment to show him how to use email. She had explained to him it would be another form of communication between them and set up an email account for him.
“So this ‘email’ is fairly common?” he asked, staring at his laptop.
“It’s pretty much used every day. I often use it for work.”
“I see. How I go by writing you one?”
“Well, you first type in a message and then you click on the send button,” she said, pointing to the send button on the screen. “I’ll then receive it immediately.”
Ichabod took a moment to reflect what she had showed him. “From what I understand, it’s like letters but much faster.”
“Exactly. You need me to demonstrate?”
“I don’t think that’ll be necessary.” He cleared his throat. “Expect to receive something from me very soon.”
She knew how much Ichabod gets confused over technology, so she hoped he wouldn’t have too much trouble.

Later in the evening Abbie was relaxing in a coffee shop. As she was sipping her drink, a noise went off from her phone. She picked it up and found out Ichabod had send her an email message.
From: Ichabod Crane
To: Abbie Mills
So I just write any message I so desire and then pass it on to you like this?
Abbie couldn’t help but chuckle. She typed back a response and they began relaying messages to one another.
From: Abbie Mills
To: Ichabod Crane
Yes, just like that.
To: Ichabod Crane
From: Abbie Mills
Oh. That’s simple enough. You’re right, it is like writing letters. I can see why this is much more efficient than doing it by hand.
From: Abbie Mills
To: Ichabod Crane
I admit, you’re figuring this out very quickly.
To: Ichabod Crane
From: Abbie Mills
I appreciate your compliment, Miss Mills.
From: Abbie Mills
To: Ichabod Crane
You’re welcome. I think you might get the hang of text messaging, too.

Text messaging? Is it like what we’re engaging now?
From: Abbie Mills
To: Ichabod Crane
Kinda. It’s when we message one another with our phones. Do you have your phone with you?
From: Ichabod Crane
To: Abbie Mills
I have it lying on my desk at this moment.
To: Abbie Mills
From: Ichabod Crane
Okay, perfect. Wait until you hear a sound from your phone.
Abbie went ahead and send him a text message. After waiting a minute, he replied back.
Text message from Abbie:
Like email, you can reply back by pushing the send button on your phone.
Text message from Ichabod:
So it is. Seems also similar to voice mail but in written form.
Text message from Abbie:
I’m often away and always have my phone with me, so email and texting are the fastest ways I can be contacted.
Text message from Ichabod:
Both of those forms of communication should be very useful for our adventures. All right then, I shall leave you at peace the rest of the night.
Text message from Abbie:
You have a good night too, Crane.
Sighing in relief, Abbie was glad he figured out quickly email and texting. Indeed the two should be very useful for them.
