Spreading Holiday Cheer Dean/Castiel Commentfic Meme

What it is: A low-key commentfic meme where everyone gets to post Dean/Castiel (or Jensen/Misha) prompts they'd like to see a commentfic about, and people comment back with ficlets fulfilling those wishes in the spirit of the holidays. A sort of un-Secret Santa, if you will (though I suppose ( Read more... )

There are literally dozens of types of cookies in the box, from the classics like chocolate chip and sugar cookies to the more exotic like macadamia nut and yellow almond cookies. Maybe Dean's old fashioned, but he finds himself drawn not to the fancy ones, or the fantastically iced ones (with pictures of snowflakes and snowmen and, oddly enough, robots). Instead, it's the deliciously lumpy looking oatmeal and raisin cookies that draw him into the box, and as soon as he takes the first mouth-watering bite, he knows he made the right decision.

"Cas," Dean says around a mouthful of crumbly sugary goodness. "Did you knock over a bakery or something? Because these may be the best cookies I have ever had in my lifeIn the flickering light of the fireplace, Castiel's smile is genuine, easy, and relieves all the weariness that usually lines his face. For a second, he seems not so much like an ancient, immortal being charged with saving the world--but almost like a relaxed, happy guy. It's a good look on him, Dean thinks ( ... )

FILLED : Feliz Navidad Part One. martyred_wings November 27 2009, 19:10:31 UTC
The snow drifted down outside, making the world look cold, abandoned with no traffic going past to disturb a thing. No one walked in the parking lot, no one came to claim their cars, all was silent as though the end of the world had come early. Dean was watching the empty world outside the motel room window, watched the snowflakes come down on barely moving currents of air, sighed as he wondered where Castiel had gotten to ( ... )

The angel’s face was taut with expectation, wondering just what Dean had gotten him for his first ever Christmas gift. His face broke into an uncharacteristic grin when he pulled a scarf from the confines of the brightly colored paper, woollen surfaces decorated with smiling, happy, beautiful little angels, wings outspread upon the fabric. Dean urged him to remove the other gift from the package, smiling when Castiel’s face lit up again at the sight of a warm, fuzzy sweater, as soft as feathers and just as warm ( ... )

Sam trying to celebrate christmas with a kid!Dean and kid!Cas. I want to see the kiddies choose gifts for each other and Sam being dragged around to find the PERFECT gift. Points if Bobby dresses up as Santa for the kiddies.

Dean was no stranger to staying up all night. Although most of his all nighters usually involved a woman, a post-case celebration, a case, or driving through the night to the next case. Preferably in that order. He had never in his entire life been to Christmas Midnight Mass. In the furthest reaches of his mind, he couldn't even remember going to Mass on Christmas, except for the few he and Sam had spent with Pastor Jim ( ... )

ten seconds later he wonders how anyone else can even continue singing when the voice coming from the angel standing next to him has to be the most beautiful thing he has ever heard in his entire life

This is where everything in the ficlet came into focus. Nicely done, I could almost see it happening in an episode as a 'bromance' moment between Dean and Castiel (and of course, 'romance' for us slashers!).

Glad you liked it. I'm thinking of expanding it out of drabble length into a one shot.

At first, Dean can't pinpoint the change in Cas. He knows there's something different, something stunning, but he has no idea what it is. He's wearing Dean's coat like he sometimes does and he looks tired. Its the red rimming around the edges of his eyes that tip Dean off. He's not high; not even a little. Dean hasn't seen him like this in a long time and he'd been starting to think he never would again ( ... )
