There's no hot linguistic term of the day. (Damn!) Only my linguistics prof making her voice go all breathey to demonstrate what it sounds like because in some languages a breathy vowel will change the meaning of a word (much as tone will change the meaning of a word in Mandarin). Which was great, because in English, breathey voice means phone sex. Even if you're just saying "so it sort of sounds like this."
