Ah, yeah. It was changed for derby as it's a full contact sport. Intimidating sayings and names are part of the game.

Starfraker's a cute name :) (It also reminds me of a Nine Inch Nails song, lol.) Don't forget to post a picture of your uniform once you get it!

Ha, yeah. I said that too. Which makes it kinda fun on a lot of different levels.

As for uniforms, the team already has a standard uniform, but I can customize my helmet and a couple other things, so once my helmet is all BSG'd out, I'll post photos.

I am anti-Kara ThrasHER, just b/c something"HER" is a *far* overused derby name. (I used to be involved with flat-track derby, so I've seen a lot of names!)

I like Toaster McFrakkin a lot as well...you could also go with Toasta McFrakkin to make it a teensy bit shorter. Be sure to check the derby names registry to make sure someone doesn't already have it! And if you decide to use "frak" in any form, go ahead and make it "frakk"...I guarantee it will be mispronounced otherwise.

I'm pretty sure "Viper" is still taken as a name. But "Skinjob" may not be...hmmm. And it sounds naughty, but is not technically x-rated, which certainly is a plus in the roller derby name-department. ;-D

Next up...your number! Almost as an important decision! :-D

Oh, and I wanted to say I like "Starfraker" as well, but "Starfrakker" might get you a more proper pronounciation by the general public not familiar with BSG.

Hope you find something you like! Keep in mind that you will be known by this name far and wide, so pick something you'd like to be called almost 24/7. I tried to make an effort to learn people's actual names in my league(s), but sometimes people just stick with derby names all the time.

Thanks for the tips! Yeah, I've been checking the registery pretty often and the only BSG related name I saw taken was Starbuck, but for derby, why just be Starbuck? Gotta punch it up!

Thanks for the heads up on *her*. Originally, I was just going to go with Kara Thrasher, with no emphasis, I still like that name overall.

The number would be 8757, which is the number of Kara's viper.

I really really love Frakk Attack, Skinjob is also pretty awesome. As much as I love Toaster McFrakkin, I don't think I could stand that name 24/7. I'm trying to hit a name that is a bit more personified, like Kara Thrasher, which is why the other two you mentioned are appealing.

I'm also going to be painting (or printing stickers) out of cylon raiders and put those on my helmet as a cylon kill counter.

This part of derby is seriously too much fun, though I'm happy to be trying a new sport equally as well.

Hey, if you want to be Kara Thrasher, go for it! It's *your* name, after all. ;-) I just *personally* knew two "emphasis 'HER'" name variants. Maybe it's not as popular of a name variant in your neck of the woods, ala smasher, crasher, basher ( ... )
