So I guess Shishou Professor Senju is gone. She said she'd send written instructions, though, so I won't really be without a teacher, at least. And she left Delita her trunk of healing spells! He said that I could look through it when I wanted so...well, if you don't see me around for a few days, you know where I am.

She did teach me something ( Read more... )

SAKURA KNOWS ABOUT THIS DANGEROUS SEAL BUSINESS. BUT IT'S NOT LIKE THAT! battle_in_bloom October 7 2009, 23:59:49 UTC
Okay, well...the spell is based on having perfect magical control. It's like...magic is mostly a potential spell that doesn't really have a whole lot of power until you cast it. For this spell to work, you have to channel the magic without a spell first, maintain control of it, and then use the spell to channel it back into your body and store it. Except that if you let that sort of force run around in your body, it'd probably explode, so it's compressed and stored in a seal - the Yin seal on my forehead, like Professor Senju has. Once it's stored, you can release it, but you have to have the control otherwise...explosions. You channel it out of your body through another specific point - in this case, a fist, although it doesn't have to be.

Basically, it's using the basis of healing, which requires fine control of your magic, and using it for something else. Using vein or nerve imagery helps a lot when I'm channelling the magic, too.

No, the seal's safe. The danger comes from channelling the magic through your own body. Lose control, and it's not pretty.

Hmm? Prove you wrong?

I will. I am.

Nope, the seal's safe. It's like...an outside force, it's not connected to my own magic. Part of the reason this is such a big spell is because once it's on, it doesn't come off. And before you ask, it's only containing magic I put in there. Professor Senju knows what she's been doing, she's been studying this branch of magic for over three decades.

...I was asking for that.
