I Finally Found a Hobby

Sep 10, 2012 13:14

For a long time I never really had a hobby. Certainly not something I was ever consistent with. Sure, I've done programming on and off again for years now, and I've got the whole Android thing going for me, but I never really had a real hobby. I don't do trains or models or stamps or whatever. I joke occasionally that my son is my hobby, but that's hardly true. He's a full time commitment. He did, however, help me find my hobby.

My hobby is Legos. Yes, Legos. No, they aren't just a toy. They are, in my mind, the same as model trains. You build it, you put time and money into it, and when you're done, you really only have something in which you place pride, but that's about it. I know, I'm underselling hobbies a little. But that's how I feel about hobbies. They're something you enjoy that basically just takes up time. Well, for me, that's building with Legos. I seriously enjoy them and I'm totally hooked on them. I was as a kid too, I just didn't buy them because I was "too old." No. I am not. Just look around the internet. Lots of people do really cool stuff with Legos and most of them are NOT kids.

boy, legos
