So, my son has been watching Jetsons: The Movie. Yes, the Jetsons. It's a little old, dated and poorly animated, but it's what he wanted to watch. There is something that confuses me though. Where do they live? Is that Earth? (FYI: in the film, it is revealed to be Earth for sure. Never mind this question.) I mean, they live up in the clouds. Wouldn't the air be thin and really, really cold? I don't understand how that works. Also, there's never safety railings. Is that how they keep the population under control? I mean, there must be hundreds of falling deaths every month. Also, why do they have traffic lanes? George Jetson always gets stuck in traffic, but it's a flying car! Just, I don't know, fly there. I guess the "roads" make sense. You'd want to make sure people aren't just flying into each other or colliding with the people falling out of buildings and off of moving walkways, but couldn't they make the lanes 3 across and 3 deep as well? Why think in two dimensions (pun intended)? Lastly, do the Jetsons represent upper class? Surely they're not lower class; I mean, flying car, robo-maid, and a house in which everything is automated. I also wonder if there is some sort of under class or sub-human class that still lives on the surface of the Earth. It's just the elite that live in the sky with their technology; they're looked upon as gods by the lower being on the ground. Just... weird. I could probably go on, but the Jetsons just confuse me.
