All is dull, I'm awake...
That was running through my brain about midnight last night, when I really should have been unconscious.
Over the past several days, there has been a bunch of not much going on.
On Monday,
baobh and I started a new workout routine/diet, and we both had to work. On the plus side at work, I actually had somethin mildly interesting to do. Granted, I could have finished the project in about an hour, but I took all day so I could play with it and make it more entertaining for myself. I realized that I have fallen into the
Evolution of a Coder. I am somewhere between "Seasoned Professional" and "Master Programmer" now. I took something that could be done in about one hundred and fifty lines of code and turned it into a three thousand line application, with a bunch of twisted weirdness. Welcome to my boredom. Monday evening we went up to
ceosanna and
hotfix's house for meatballs and socialization. While there, we got to play with a "puppy" (ie-- hyperactive Doberman). Such a fun large-ish doggy. *grin*
Tuesday: the wife went to work, and I cleaned the kitchen. I even scrubbed down the stove and the garbage cans. Yes, I was kind of bored. Tuesday evening we went out to dinner with
smtpboy and Aaron (who I do not think has an LJ). We went to the Pacific grill, which the three of us did last year. I remember the food being better last year than it was this time. Ah, well. Must remember next year.
Wednesday:
baobh and I went to work. All I had to work on was upgrading a third-party open-source application. We have a customized implementation, so I had to merge the new code with our in-house hacks. Boring, brainless, took all day. And this is actually a good thing. My intellectual capacity was near zero yesterday, so a task where I hit 'compile', waited ten minutes, fixed an integration error, [repeat] was just about perfect.
Today we moved about more efficiently than usual. Packing lunch last night was time saving and useful. Thus, we were able to get in a brief (ten minute) cardio session to wake up. Yes, we actually wanted to do this. It makes the morning easier to get through. Just enough movement to get the body going. If you don't believe me, try it some day. Nothing strenuous (no sprinting or anything). Just enough effort to make you start breathing hard. Low-medium intensity, pre-breakfast.
And now: to get dressed for work. Wish me luck.
