Rehabilitation?

Rehabilitation? Is it for everyone? I have been questioning this for some time now. We discussed briefly rehabilitating in prisons today in one of my CRIM classes, and believe me, it quickly became a hot topic. The class seemed evenly split on whether or not the state is responsible for rehabilitating all inmates. Also, can all inmates be rehabilitated. I, of course, had to put my 2 cents in...lol. Actually, I have done some research on the topic of rehabilitation, and as for now I am siding mainly with Ret. FBI Agents John Douglas and Russ Vorpagel. This is definitely paraphrasing their opinions on the issue, but from what I am analyzing and gathering the two agents believe that rehabilitation is nearly impossible in the cases of sexual offenders and serial killers. These deviants are generally people that have the "taste for blood" already, and like a shark they shall attack again when and if given the chance. These men and women usually obtain some feelings of elation and power before, during, and/or after their crimes. Many take "trophies" from their victims (ie-jewelry, undergarments, even body parts) in order to relive their fantasy. When the fantasy of their latest crime begins the fizzle and lose it's luster, then they are on the prowl again, just to reinvigorate their sense of elation and power. I, quite honestly, am frightened when the system releases those types of offenders. It's like waiting for their unconscious time bombs to go off inside their heads! Then BOOM...you or I could be next!
On a lighter note, I shall never eat strange meat from the Z again. I had no idea what that ground up shit they called "Philly steak" was. And the sesame chicken, lord have mercy on my bowels!!!! That stuff was hideous. Never again. I can say with great certainty, though, that in the past 5 years I have attended UWG, I have gotten food poisoning 4 times from the Z, 3 of those times the pizza was to blame. Lest to say I do not care to ingest that undercooked shit ever again!
Oh, btw...love the classes! They are a superb way for me to get an insight into what field I am getting myself psyched up for. My professors are very professional. Professor Horton, my CRIM professor (for both of my CRIM classes) was a Special Agent for the United States Customs, which, after 9/11, fell under the Department of Homeland Security. Professor Horton teaches me Mon-Fri, which is a first for me. Never had the same professor every single day school is in session. Besides doing forensic psychology and criminal profiling, becoming an agent for the ATF (Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms) as well as an agent for the US Customs is now an option for me. I really want to do that internship the school has for the Customs...but it's at Hartsfield, and I have a 15-year-old car. Nuff said, lol! But she's my baby!!!!

No matter what you say
It don’t take away the pain

That I feel inside, I’m tired of all the lies
Don’t nobody know why
It’s the blind leading the blind"
