The first lightning-sparked forest fire of the season, 50 hectares. It's about 10 or 15k from camp, on the top of the first ridge across the river. We had a thunderstorm come through here and set it off on Monday or Tuesday.

We're leaving Whitehorse this morning. The sun is already up and it's gloriously sunny but really cold! Weather report says -4. I'm really glad I bought a vest at MEC - it was on clearance and I almost wasn't going to get it but I changed my mind at the last minute (remembering how cold it occasionally got in Greenland)and picked it up ( Read more... )
