Lately I've been hearing people say that Pres Obama made a comment about the U.S. not being a Christian nation, but a Muslim one. I just saw a Youtube video where he clearly states that the U.S. doesn't aligh with any religeon; for this country to do so would be a conflict with the Constitution. I get the feeling he was trying to say that the U.S. is not in conflict with other contries who do aligh with a certain faith. Good people who want peace.
Fear and hatred sure can breed irational fears. Lots of people around here consider themselves Christians. People seem to think that Obama is trying to sell out the U.S. and what the people want. They also think that because the president didn't say the U.S. was a Christian Nation that the country is going to Hell in a bobsled. Well, I looked up religeon in the U.S. and 76% claim affiliation with Chrisitanity. I'm not saying there aren't problems in the world, hypocracy being one of them, but I get the feeling people around here think their group of Christians are this tiny little group keeping the unreligeous and the world itself from utter distruction. There are good people in every faith, and good people who don't even affiliate with peace.
My personal belief is that God loves everyone, and understands them better than anyone else can. He doesn't comdemn anyone, they do it to themselves, yet so many people don't really much love others, so it's easy to condemn.
So often what people hear is just what they want to hear and they don't need to hear anything else.
"It make sense to me, so it must be true."
Sometimes the religeous can be just as scary as the 'heathen'.
