in other news..
went to a sweat lodge yesterday. this is an aboriginal (in this case, cree) cleansing ritual.. of the mind/body/soul.
it was cool.
I enjoyed the sense of community. the sweating. Overal, I found myself quite confused after the experience. I didn't really know what I should be getting out of the whole time I spent there.. So there is a lesson. Next time you go to a cree sweatlodge.. think about things to pray for (yrself and others!) or questions you want to ask yourself.. otherwise you are just singing in the dark.
They say that you can tell when the spirits of the grandfathers and grandmothers are guiding you through the sweat. I didn't know that the white lights I saw where these people. But I was glad to see them nonetheless. I thought a lot about my grandparents watching over me during the time in the sweatlodge and it brought tears to my eyes.. but was quite comforting.
STUFF THAT HARSHED THE DAY:
-ukrainians boys throwing my clothing/warm shit on the ice and leaving it there for the 5/6 hours i was in a small hut
-ukrainian boys chattering intermittently during prayers
-9 year old spirit godess chic who talked way too much and was so annoying that anything of value was ignored because i didn't want to listen to her
-my nipple piercing closed up (you can't wear jewelry into a lodge..) and my ear hoop is once again busted... positive is that now i have to go and get it re inserted by the shawn the piercings guy.. and maybe get some new piercings too hehehe.. sorry nancy!
