1. Wednesday I skipped my Women's Studies class in order to go to the Vagina Carnival on campus, where they had previews for the Vagina Monologues, a drag show, and vagina shaped chocolate candies for sale. I was going to get one but I thought 2 bucks was kind of steep for a vagina candy.
2. I didn't stay for all of the Vagina Carnival because I had to go to the poetry slam for a class, which was my real reason for skipping Women's Studies. The poetry slam was really freaking awesome. All of the poets were really political. It was just really cool and nothing like I would expect... it was almost like they were rapping their poems. This one chick had a really good line "The world is too rich in color to be black and white." This other chick did a poem in honor of black history month and she said something along the lines of "black coffee is strong until you add the white cream." It was really cool, and very ... I don't know how to describe it. Awesome though.
3. Today I went to the Art Institute with Aviva and Meaghan. We thought it was free all through February, turns out it was only free until the 21st. We only had to pay 7 bucks though because we got a student discount. We had to go for our Anthropology class. It was a good time though.
4. Tonight Meaghan and I went to the Vagina Monologues. Loyola's feminist forum puts on a production every year. It was amazing. I encourage everyone.. male and female, to rent the movie, or go see a production. It was really cool. The monologues range from hilarious tales of lawyers turned sex workers, to very serious tales of women who are victims of rape. All of the monologues are based on real women's tales. The writer of the monologues (Eve something) interviewed women about their vaginas and then wrote these monologues based on their answers. I highly recommend it.
5. I just downloaded Next's "Too Close" and jammed out to it in my room alone while Meaghan made fun of me.
6. I'll be home in a week. Lets hang out.
