Today's been filled with stupidity, drama, and information - perhaps all three can be considered the same...

We had an "In Port Manning" boat drill today and as luck would have it, I happened to have "IPM". I found out (oh so the hard way) that our safety card numbers for IPM are DIFFERENT than those used for IPM and so I went to the wrong place and got marked absent. I didn't even know we HAD IPM cards, much less where to find them.
I know now..

In the agravation of the boat drill, I inadvertantly ignored a "potential prospect" in the elevator as I vented to one of my staff. It probably wouldn't have worked out anyway, but I'll still stop by her shop and buy my usual dose of chocolate.

Shortly afterwards, I got an email from Office Guy asking Sound Guy/Boss and I if we'd heard of someone from Celebrity who was trying to get a job with Crystal - turns out, it's the guy that wound up replacing me on the Journey. I sent out a few "feelers" from people that might know him (he's the one that got there the day I left - much to the suprise of the guy who I had TRAINED to replace me) and it turns out that he had talked quite a bit of shit about myself and my staff to people, but oddly enough I won't hold that against him. If he knows what he's doing and is just an asshole, we might be able to use him. I'm still waiting to hear from one more person and then I'll give Office Guy my reccomendation.

In a "feeler" response, I found out that the Celebrity Office Guy who tried sending me to the Summit - the whole reason I left - is no longer with them. Now more than ever, Crystal's Office Guy needs to keep his job. Of course, now it might be safe for me to go back to Celebrity, but I'm starting to like it here and I'd hate to think I wasted my time learning all of this new stuff for nothing.

Lastly - and there's so much left of the day that can still go wrong - I managed to kill my office laptop. The frustating part of that is that I had been taking it to my cabin to work on one of my prose excerises and I liked the direction it was going in.

Tonight's show will be easy, so it's all about iPod Solitaire and reading.
