Today was regional practice.
Folks were here, some folks were at practice. The upstairs neighbors are members of the church were we hold practice and events. fibersnob was down here chatting

Those of us at the scribal workshop got calls from Pagan and Una about the fire, and were all hoping for the best. I'm glad nobody was hurt. Now we just need to find out how bad the damage is. It's a beautiful church -- I hope they're able to re-store it.

the stained glass window is gone. The lead melted.
The pipe organ is done for.
Neither were insured.

The community is not a rich one in money, but there are good folks who will work hard. I am sure they will appreciate our support.

Wow. How sad on both counts. Probably the best thing to do for the window -- which will still not be cheap -- will be to put in plain glass for the winter (or plexiglass, for that matter). I would hate to see plywood there, just because it would make everything darker. Well, we're not exactly rich either, but maybe we can come up with some good ideas for fundraising, etc.

What about the piano? Did that burn as well?
