strange day
Today was regional practice.
Folks were here, some folks were at practice. The upstairs neighbors are members of the church were we hold practice and events. fibersnob was down here chatting.
I got a call from someone at practice saying the church was on fire, the fire dept had been called, but could the upstairs neighbor please call the pastor and let him know. So we did. I looked at the fibersnob and said "we will take care of the girls, just go" and she did. ZOOM.
So we cooked. Measan made pesto chicken (yummy), Zohra had made and brought potato sausage soup (omg yummy). We sliced bread and cheese and played with the girls while the neighbors helped at church. There were no human injuries, the ginea pig from the day care downstairs was okay (a vet tech at the regional practice checked it out).
When people started to trickle into the house they brough the smell of woodsmoke with them. There was food and there were stories. Apparently, the main reason the church was not a total loss was that there were folks there to call the fire dept right away.

You may or may not have already heard, there was a fire today at Bethesda Lutheran Church, the site of Crestfallen, weekly practice, and regional practice. There were no injuries. The fire was limited to the altar area of the sanctuary, there is extensive smoke damage through the building and water damage in the basement. Practice is canceled this week and for the foreseeable future. Once it is cleaned up we should be able to use it again. I will update the Barony as I know more.
