Last week and over New Years I was up in Brisbane with Peter. It was good :) New Years was a bit of a shamozzle but it worked out in the end and I had plenty of Bubbles in the end haha... the rest of the weekend was great, and I even met the whole family. I was thrown in the deep end! I met both sisters, their husbands, all their kids and even the Aunty from NZ and cousin from Canada. Oh boy it was a big affair - I think I did well! Everyone was really awesome and I had a great time meeting everyone.

On the Saturday we went to the Brisbane International Tennis, but it turns out we showed up a day early and it was just the qualifying and entry was free! And then even better for us we got to see Justin Henin, James Blake and Andy Roddick (who even walked RIGHT PAST ME with his shirt off, all sweaty after a practice - whoa yay) on practice courts and in the arena. It was pretty good. We also watched some Aussies play qualifying while I worked on my tan :P

So, now I'm back home, this week I started my job with the Medibank International Sydney Tennis tournament which starts this weekend. I'm a driver and get to pick up players and officials from the airport and shuttle them around to the hotel and tennis centre. So far it's been pretty fun! We get to drive a braaaaaaand new Lexus every day.

This is outside my apartment hehe yes just a little detour ;)

This is just one of 20 or so they got straight off the truck. Some cars had only 9km on the Odometer! It's been pretty good so far. I'm easily the youngest driver there as we're all Volunteers and therefore the only other people with this much time off are retirees. haha ti's been pretty funny though, and everyone is super friendly. I've already bonded with a couple of the older ladies who knit and crochet - word got around very quickly that I crochet and next thing I know I'm helping Shirley try to figure out this cardigan pattern she was stuck on. hahah. Seriously! We sat there working it out, but it was rubbish.. totally couldnt' get it. But so much fun. Between waiting around in the tent and drinking copious amounts of coffee, we get to see, meet & greet alot of familiar faces. I'm sure more will come up in the next couple days... but already I've met Dinara Safina (I just missed out on being her driver, d'oh!) I watched her practice and she's just as loud as you'd expect on the court. URRRRRRRRRHHHHHHHHHH! with every swing. Hm.

I picked up a young player and her Dad, Ashling Sumner (I knew she looked familiar.. had to google her!) and she's SUCH a lovely girl!! She got a Wild Card to play in the tournament this week. Young little thing! But super cute and very very polite. She didn't make it in Brissy cuz she was up against Casey Delacqua in the Qualifying Round.. but I wished her luck this week in Sydney. Hope she goes far.

Last night I had to pick up a Tennis Official and on the same flight was Karol Beck, so I got to meet him. He is ALOT better looking in person. Infact, he's quite hot in real life - shame there are no good photos of him online!

Anyway, I'm back on tonight so who knows who I'll have! Many of the drivers have been volunteering for yeeaaaaaaaars, so I guess they're probably going to have rank on the bigger players. Since I'm only first year driver who knows, but fingers crossed for me ;)

work, pete, qld, sydney, weekend away, crochet, tennis
