Got back from California yesterday. Yet another example of a whirlwind time I've been having since I moved out here. We got to CA before my folks, and with our limited funds, had no way to get a rental car. Solution: Public transit! Well, sort of. See, the BART train from San Fran International doesn't go to San Jose, where we needed it to, so we had to head north for a stop, then take the Caltrain (their version of Metra) and took that several stops to where my cousin Brendan picked us up. See, the hotel we stayed at was cheap and didn't pick us up not 2 1/2 miles from the building. Tres' lame'. We would say...if we spoke bad French. Anyway!
After we went to the Monterey Bay Aquarium on Friday, we harassed my cousins Alison and Sarah at our hotel after we first thought of going to bed. Much bonding took place between those two and Liz. Yay! Saturday was my cousin Katie's wedding. Wow. Sooooo many family members I haven't seen since I graduated. My little cousin Matt is now a Sophomore in high school and has diamond studded earrings. Such a playa! Then there is his sis, Christine. Wow. At 21, she looks even younger, with a model figure. Her mom says that's what comes from marrying a Filipino man (so true).
All in all, much fun was had. Then, we remembered why flying stand-by sucks so much. We got lucky the Thursday we flew out and caught the first flight out. Monday, not so lucky. Finally got the third flight at 1:30, which had already been delayed, and after waiting for 5 hours, we were in the air. At least it gave me time for a new movie idea. Guy and girl meet waiting for a flight, etc., figure out they like each other after a series of run-ins, and they give social commentary on the airlines. Work in progress, I know. I choose the stars to be Emma Stone, as a budding law grad, and Bradley Cooper as a troubled businessman. Hey, Hollywood has made worse movies, c'mon now.
