I got hired to work at a Starbucks within a Target a few weeks ago and just started actual training yesterday. We're opening a brand new store so we're not actually going to get any real experience working with customers or seeing how it's all done until we have our VIG night and then soft opening.
Today we learned how to steam milk to make cappuccinos and lattes and my team leader (manager) basically told me when to move the cup down and up and when there was enough foam for the latte etc. I didn't really learn anything from it and a lot of my co-workers and I (there's 12 people in the training and only 3 have worked for Starbucks before) are still very confused as to how you know when to move the cup and if you're making it right. Does anyone have any tips on using this machine?
Also, anybody else have tips in general for a new barista? 0:-) I don't know a thing about coffee since I don't drink any myself so I need all the help I can get LOL.
