I've been slaking off on EVERYTHING lately, including LJ entries. Blame the video games. I picked up Batman: Arkham Asylum and Fallout 3 while I was in Tokyo over Christmas, so I've been playing the hell out of both of them. There's that "JUST ONE MORE RIDDLER TROPHY!" and "JUST ONE MORE SIDE-QUEST!" mindset whenever I play games that are actually GOOD. And Bioshock 2 will be added to the pile in a week or two, so there's no end in sight. I've fallen behind on most of the shows I watch, too, so that's even less incentive for me to catch up on the intarwebs, since I'll just get spoiled.
I've also been busy actually DOING stuff. Work's been busy, but I'm also having a ton of fun with other ALTs. The last two years I had occasional outings with two or three people (who, sadly, aren't here any more), as well as an occasional D&D game or festival or something. This year I've suddenly been getting together with people regularly, having people stay over at my apartment, staying over at OTHER people's apartments, going out for dinner and karaoke a bit more often, and generally being somewhat social. Not a WHOLE lot more than last year, but enough that I've started using my whiteboard calendar more often to keep track of my plans for the month. Even if it's just an appointment for making pie with someone, or going out for sushi, or playing games over Ventrillo.
I finally got my new car. Still learning all the little differences from my old car, but I'm liking it a lot more. It handles a lot better than my old one. Hopefully that translates into being a bit safer while it's snowing like it is today. A car can't compensate for human error (and I seem to be nothing BUT human error when I'm driving), but good tires and decent brakes help.
It's snowing very hard today. Time to go get a shower, and decide whether to drive an hour through the blizzard to the mall since I won't be able to get there any other weekend this month. It's been two months since I hit the import store. My kitchen is pining for decent cheese, since the cheese at most Japanese grocery stores only comes in one flavour: processed.
