i turned around

i turned around
and there you stood
laying witness to the horrible deed
the razor was dripping blood onto the tiled floor
and Matthew murmured in astonishment
you could only stare at me
in disbelief
in disappointment
but i held my chin up
refusing to look away with shame
strands of hair were puddled around my feet
the browns mixed with the black
and peaks of red and blonde were visible
the sticky goop, for it had no other name,
had hardened my fingers together
whilst you glared
and you stared

i hadn't had my hair cut in ten years,
it was time for a change
