The problem with getting a new computer--particularly when it's because the old computer died and so you can't do a clean update to the new one but rather must go manually piecemeal--is that you spend the next week (or more) saying, "What happened to X? Where do I find that now?"
I have managed to get all my bookmarks and other assorted web-browsing stuff sorted out. Yay!
Still can't figure out where my old iCal files are, so my calendar is a mess. I NEED MY CALENDAR.
Related to that: I cannot find any preferences panel that will allow me to change the appearance of the calendar. Can anyone help me out? Because that default design provided by Apple is FUGLY. A fake digital representation of pleather is just compounding the badness.
ETA: Finally figured out how to get into the company database, but not in such a way that I can actually make any changes. Considering that I am the official keeper of the schedule, this means that 90% of my job is impossible, and the very late action items on my desk are getting even later.
Can I just go home and wait for someone to magically make everything work correctly again? BECAUSE I HAVE NOTHING TO DO UNTIL THIS IS FIXED. How am I supposed to do my job without any tools? This is why paperless offices suck shit. Pen and ink and file cabinets may be slower some of the time, but they ALWAYS WORK (unless the building is on fire, but that interferes with computers, too).
