So I'm sitting here watching Little People, Big World (weekly ritual, don't judge...) and it is the Halloween episode. It made me think about growing up and what that holiday meant for me. For me, when I think back I think about sitting at the kitchen table with my dad carving pumpkins. He always carved one for him and my mom (he's the one with the artistic talent) and I had one of my own. Always a fun project and a good way to spend time with him. Trick or Treating was also a Dad thing. He had this pewter cup shaped like an old tuba. He would take it out with us and would do the adult version of trick or treating...getting a shot here or there of alcohol or some wine. He didn't do this at each house, obviously, but at certain close family friends.
I also remember that one year we had family friends visiting from Holland where they don't celebrate Halloween. They thought it was just the coolest thing.
Okay...there's my random entry for the day.
